Maintenance Technician/Welder
Job Description
A local manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Welder who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the process and all associated equipment. This is a first shift position working 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; however, once perm, you will be on call for assistance on second shift.
Duties:
- Repair and perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment, furnaces, sifters, elevators, bag houses, etc.
- Perform welding, pipefitting, general electrical, mechanical fabrication, and general repairs
- Change bearings, bolts, motors, etc., weld parts back on electrical, 3-phase electrical, compressors, and wiring, and perform PLC programming
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date files and communicate with other employees and departments
- Receive physical repair part and ensure they are properly accounted for
- Perform maintenance in a safe reliable manner, in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations
- Ensure compliance to environmental permits and good neighbor principles
- Monitor bag house emissions and other sources of glass dust
- Participate in plant-wide HSE, quality, productivity initiatives, HSE activities, and volunteer on the Safety Committee
- Perform other special projects and duties as directed
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must have at least 1 year maintenance experience working in a manufacturing plant environment
- Must have welding and fabrication experience
- Must have an understanding of ISO Management Systems, Continuous Quality Improvement Principles, and Statistical Process Controls
- The ability to troubleshoot, diagnosis situations, and follow instructions is required
- Must have good interpersonal skills, make good decisions, and work well in a team environment
- Understanding strict adherence to safety principles, impeccable housekeeping, and ability to work in a physical environment is mandatory
- Must have a solid work history with no attendance issues
