Machine Operator - Second Shift - 2 Needed

Job Description

A manufacturing company is seeking Machinists to operate various production equipment to manufacture products to specifications by performing the following duties personally.  Work hours are second shift from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; however, training will be done from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate roll former, saw, mill, chrome plater, buffer, grinder, and other equipment as required to complete operations 
  • Troubleshoot machines and make adjustments as required and perform daily, routine, and preventative machine maintenance 
  • Plan and carry out production goals set by production superintendent based upon customer orders 
  • Perform inspections on material during operation and work with supervisor to develop quality goals 
  • Move material into and out of area using material handling devices as required 
  • Build shipping boxes required for rod shipments and package finished rods 
  • Coordinate shipping of competed materials with front office, label boxes, coordinate loading of trucks, and assist in loading and unloading raw materials and finished goods 
  • Monitor supplies required for the operation and place purchase orders as required 
  • Prepare and complete documentation as required 
  • Perform routine housekeeping of area, including the cleaning of machinery 
  • Train all new and existing employees in the essential duties and responsibilities of their job 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

 

Job Requirements

Job Qualification:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication, as well as organizational skills
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations, and use reason even when dealing with emotional topics
  • Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, plan for additional resources, set goals and objectives, organize or schedule other people and their tasks, and develop realistic action plans
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, look for ways to improve and promote quality, apply feedback to improve performance, and monitor own work to ensure quality
  • Must be able to meet productivity standards, complete work in timely manner, strive to increase productivity, work quickly, adapt to changes in the work environment, and manage competing demands
  • Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
  • Must display a willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, support and explain reasoning for decisions, include appropriate people in decision-making process, and make timely decisions
