Design Engineer
Job Description
A manufacturing company is seeking a Designer Engineer to perform research and come up with new ideas for products and the systems used to create them and analyze existing products with a view to improving their efficiency and overall performance. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create draft and design products
- Coordinate with Quality, Sales, and Warehouse Departments
- Communicate with the customer in a professional manner on design and receive final sign off
- Take cost, safety, legal regulations, maintenance, and the environment into consideration
- Research, design and create new products
- Determine the target audience of the product and the different ways in which it may be used
- Develop virtual models of different designs using computer software
- Find out the manufacturing requirements by examining materials and production costs
- Present designs and perform demonstrations of product prototypes for the approval of clients
- Evaluate the function, safety, and appearance of products to ensure they have a practical design
Job Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Must have at least 3 years experience
- Must have an understanding of different manufacturing methods and an extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
- Comprehensive knowledge of the qualities of various materials; especially metals is needed
- Must have the ability to carry out detailed research
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD, and Microsoft Office is required
- Must have a desire to keep up to date with new developments and a creative approach when it comes to generating new ideas
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to work both independently and within a team
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
