Buyer/Planner - Entry Level
Job Description
A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an Entry Level Buyer/Planner to procure and coordinate parts and materials to satisfy manufacturing requirements while maintaining optimal inventory levels and enhancing vendor relations. Work hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Requisition material requirements through interaction with purchasing and inventory control in an ERP environment
- Maintain inventory levels by expediting, de-expediting, and the cancellation of open purchase orders
- Place purchase orders with qualified vendors based on MRP generated buy list
- Verify inventory levels by cycle count reconciliation
- Active in evaluating and maintaining vendor database within established ISO9000 Guidelines
- Conduct vendor negotiations and coordinate between manufacturing and vendors for outside processing requirements
- Ensure quality of material, received on time, at a fair price
- Timely disposition of MRB and Service Repair items
- Apply Lean principles of manufacturing by participating in and leading kaizen events
- Maintain and establish Kanban Inventory Systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must have a four-year degree in Production or Operations Management or equivalent; APICS Certification preferred
- Must be trained or certified in Lean Principles of Manufacturing
- Must be computer literate and proficient using ERP Systems, specifically Made2Manage, word processing, and creating spreadsheets
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Must have proven negotiation experience with suppliers
- Must have strong problem-solving skills along with a desire to create solutions
- Must have the willingness to take initiative while multi-tasking, working in a fast-paced environment, and make decisions independently
