Press Set-up/Operator
Job Description
A large manufacturing company is seeking an individual who can set-up and operate presses for manual and progressive dies. This is a first shift opportunity with overtime as needed.
Duties:
- Start and shut down all equipment necessary to run presses and inspect press and tooling at start of shift
- Set-up tooling with roll feeders and die protection, load coils on mandrels or cradles, start strip through die, and operate presses for manual and progressive dies
- Properly set counterbalance air according to tool weight
- Follow written, verbal instructions, customer needs, fill out proper paperwork, and maintain tool work order
- Utilize measuring equipment, such as micrometers and calipers
- Coordinate with other departments concerning any problems or requests
- Maintain inventory stock of equipment and parts for quick die change
- Operate Forklift and Overhead Crane and complete a Safety checklist
- Perform all job functions in a safe, healthful, and environmentally conscious manner and take care of other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must have 1 to 3 years of setup experience is required, as well as, experience operating presses for manual and progressive dies
- Must be able to start and shut down all equipment necessary to run presses and inspect press and tooling at start of shift
- Must have knowledge of press controls, tooling protection, and other pieces of equipment to run a press
- Must be able to set-up tooling with roll feeders and die protection
- Must be able to properly set counterbalance air according to tool weight
- Must have experience operating a forklift and overhead crane with appropriate hook or chain
- Must have the ability to use micrometers and calipers
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work well without supervision
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and attend training as required
- Perform all job functions in a safe, healthful, and environmentally conscious manner
